Batch Process Distiller

EcoCycle’s Batch Process Distiller is an advanced system used for the safe recovery and purification of mercury from a wide range of materials, including lighting waste, electrical devices, thermometers, mercury-button cell batteries, and other contaminated industrial components.

This fully automated system operates under controlled temperature and pressure, ensuring mercury is recovered safely, cleanly, and in full compliance with environmental standards.

HOW IT WORKS

The Batch Process Distiller uses a fully enclosed, automated distillation process designed to treat materials with varying mercury content, including waste streams containing organic compounds. The process is managed through a programmable system that precisely adjusts key parameters such as temperature, pressure, and processing time to match the composition and contamination level of the material being treated.

1

Material Loading

Mercury-bearing materials are placed into the distillation chamber, which is sealed to prevent vapour release.

1

2

Controlled Heating and Evaporation

The system heats the waste under vacuum and carefully regulated pressure. Mercury is vaporised without burning organic materials, preventing the formation of unwanted compounds.

2

3

Condensation and Collection

The mercury vapour is drawn through a cooling condenser where it returns to liquid form. The condensed mercury is collected in sealed containers for reuse or sent for permanent stabilisation through EcoCycle’s Mercury Retirement Program.

3

4

Residue Treatment

Remaining solids are cooled, stabilised, and safely managed. The process achieves complete vapour capture through advanced filtration and activated carbon systems, ensuring no mercury is released into the atmosphere.

This method delivers high recovery efficiency while maintaining full operator and environmental safety. Every process cycle is automatically recorded for traceability and regulatory reporting.
