Ecocycle accredited across quality, safety and environmental management standards

Ecocycle recently achieved accreditation under AS/NZS 5377, the Australian and New Zealand management system standard that applies to the collection, storage, transport and treatment of electrical and electronic waste (e-waste).

Ecocycle is now accredited under all of the safety, quality and environmental management systems that are relevant to its activities.

These are:

  • AS/NZS 4801: Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems
  • ISO 9001: Quality Management Systems
  • ISO 14001: Environmental Management Systems
  • OHSAS 18001: Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series
  • AS/NZS 5377: Collection, storage, transport and treatment of electrical and electronic equipment.

This means that all of Ecocycle’s in-house management systems and documentation have been examined by an accredited, independent reviewer and found to comply with the relevant national (AS/NZS) and international (ISO and OHSAS) standards.

Clear commitment

Achieving these certifications demonstrates Ecocycle’s commitment to introducing ongoing improvements to the business while maintaining a sharp customer focus.

The above standards apply to all of Ecocycle’s sites in New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania, Western Australia and Victoria.

Ecocycle’s business development manager Daryl Moyle said certification to AS/NZS 5377 is particularly important.

“It means we are recognised as having the infrastructure and systems in place to handle e-waste across the country according to that standard,” he said.

“With Victoria set to ban the disposal of all e-waste to landfill from mid-2019, and with other states likely to follow, our achievement of that standard is timely.”

Ecocycle’s attainment of these standards is of direct relevance to customers who need to demonstrate their compliance with internal and external environmental policies and requirements.

“Our clients can be comforted by our achievement of certification across these standards as it demonstrates the strength of our business and its systems,” Mr Moyle said.
